Over 30 Victims Injured in Englewood School Bus Crash
A school bus crash in Englewood, New Jersey caused over 30 victims personal injuries. The bus accident occurred around 4 pm, on Thursday afternoon, near Knickerbocker Road and West Hudson Avenue, when an SUV rear-ended a bus that was returning from a church-sponsored field trip. Twenty-five children and eight adults who occupied the bus sustained a variety of injuries during the Englewood school bus crash. Both the SUV driver and bus driver incurred minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital.
Since the tragic school bus accident in Mount Olive, New Jersey, scrutiny over school bus safety has been at an all-time high. As of Tuesday, state legislators approved a new bill regarding the types of seat belts required as standard in new school buses, which upgrades the current lap belts to three-point lap and shoulder seat belts. Even if the school bus driver is not at fault, if the bus engages in a collision with another vehicle like in the Englewood school bus crash, the occupants of the bus could sustain injuries ranging in severity or even fatalities, especially if the bus contains no significant safety features.
