$1,200,000 Settlement for Wrongful Death Due to Misdiagnosed Brain Aneurysm
William O. Crutchlow, Esq. of Eichen Crutchlow Zaslow, LLP with offices in Edison and Toms River, New Jersey recently settled a case arising from the Wrongful Death of a 50-year-old man for $1,200,000. Our client went to the Emergency Room at a local hospital with complaints of headache and dizziness. A CT scan of his head was interpreted by the defendant neuroradiologist as being normal. Unfortunately, the radiologist missed an aneurysm on one of the major blood vessels in the brain. The next day the aneurysm burst causing blood to enter the brain leading to a coma followed by death. Our case was based on the lost opportunity for curative surgery had the aneurysm been diagnosed and treated at the time of the initial Emergency Room visit. Mr. Crutchlow was able to establish through his expert neurologist that prompt diagnosis and surgery would have carried a good chance of recovery without major neurological limitations. This case was filed on behalf of the estate of our deceased client which represented his three children ranging in age from 15 to 22 at the time of his death. Mr. Crutchlow engaged experts in Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, Neurology and Economics in the prosecution of this case.
